I. Dreampath Discussion:  Dreaming about Death.

Easter is as good a time as any to discuss this theme, because it is symbolic of the season ... resurrection and rebirth ... which can only come from having been in a place where no life was able to breathe, or be sustained.   Our dreams are emotional palettes for the soul, if you will, and give us the entire picture, from beginning to end and where we begin again, to let us know of the journey ahead, so we can work out the conflicts and become who we truly want to be.   This is the reason most of us shy away from any kind of dream work ... because we believe that what we dream is the literal truth .... but only when we have a negative dream.  It does not work that way, when we dream of fun and happy things ... these incidents in time, we are likely to chalk up to fantasy and nothing more, but the ones about danger and darkness in our lives, we pay rapt attention to ... why?   Because there is a part of all of us, in truth, that wants to know that we have meaning ... that our lives are guided, and that someone is in charge of the universe .... it is Fear that fuels the mystery in our dreams and keeps us from unraveling the truth of who we are ... but it is Love that teaches us to follow this thread and let it weave us whole again ... so, let's begin then, to look at these symbols in a fresh new light, because this is how Faith through Love, paints the landscape ... in bright and vivid colors, so our souls always know how to get where we want to go ... safely ... without Fear.  We start with the symbol itself, Death.

II. Symbols and Scenes: Death and Disability

“Death” -  or dying in a dream, is almost always a symbol for a ritualistic rite of passage in our lives, and is, despite its appearance, quite an excellent dream symbol, because it means that we are ready to transcend to a new state of consciousness and spiritual birth ... in ancient times, the practice of 'alchemy' was actually the search for the 'philosopher's stone' or the very thing that would produce a state of enlightenment from the dark material of life.  It was the goal of everyone then, and remains the goal of all souls now, to reach a stage in life where all of the hard work is done and we get to the 'good stuff' ... a place, not just a plateau in experience, where we live fulfilled in heart and spirit, and have all that we need to live rich and fulfilling ... and above all, happy and healthy lives.   To arrive here, we have to be transformed though, and allow ourselves the experience of working through the tough times, so we can appreciate the value of growth.

We have these dreams in common yet very pronounced ways ... the more extreme this symbolic death, the more progress we have made on a spiritual path.   For instance, to be murdered in a dream means that the part of us that has a 'murderous instinct' is showing through ... and we need to look at who it is or what part of us it is we want to kill off in the dream ... other symbols will make this clear ... ie., a head 'on the chopping block' means that we are taking risks that we don't think will result in anything but a ritual and literal 'death', but the dream will always give us the outcome of that risk ... and show the way for us to survive these 'executioners' who appear in our dreams to teach us how to live, by showing us how to let go of death ... first.

“Disability” dreams are common with death by disease or other means of murdering the 'spirit' in us ... for instance, if we dream of a 'rotting' limb, it does usually mean that we have gangrene in truth, but encourages us to look at the part of our lives that is so paralyzing or disabled.    That is so lean with oxygen and fuel that the net effect is to make us feel that we are powerless on our own 'steam' to continue in the journey ... so, we dream of all sorts of appendages ... unique and rare in design ... ie., crutches when we can't walk, wheelbarrows when we can't run,  flying carpets when we can't navigate on our own ... to tell us rather, that we do have the capacity and too, the courage to get through the dark times and free our souls so they can fly again .... teach us to walk and sing and live again ... for the joy and love of Life .... we need really outrageous healing in our dreams ... to show us though, how emotionally bereft and in need of Love and Light we've been.     So, look at these symbols as a way of helping us to see what part is hurting the most, so we know how to focus on the healing .... when we get better, so, too the dreams begin to give us signs of life and vibrant colors, so we know that we are 'in the land of the living' again .... no longer hanging out with the 'dead' ... in fact, Love has a way and a sense of humor ... 'let the dead bury their own dead' comes to mind as a great proverb about learning how to focus on life, and not feeling like we must always be in spaces and dark places where others want us to be ... the goal of every dream is to teach us to be Happy ... the goal is always to be Happy ....

III. Threads and Themes - The Executioner's Song -Interpretation:

The Dream ...   Valentine Hearts

In a Love Death camp for children who are hostages.   I try to leave, but I can't.  It is an old persons marriage camp too.   The executioner appears with the hood on his head and tells me I have to put my neck on the chopping block.  I don't want to do it, but this is the rule in this camp, and I have to, because all of the elders are watching.   so, I put my neck on the wooden block, and hold my breath, waiting for the ax to come down and cut my head off.  Decapitate me.   I know this happens in the dream, that I am actually decapitated, but then I am suddenly standing and pointing to the long scar on my neck.  Showing everyone how quickly I have healed.   The next thing I know, I am talking about Love poetry, and a love song competition.   It is the executioner who is telling me that it is time to compete, and he gives me the lyrics for the song.   I hear it in my head in the dream, and hum it, trying to remember, but he also tells me that it is for another time.   That I will remember the song when it is time.

First layer  –  the spiritual path :

This dream goes out of its way to show the association between death and life, because the death has to occur before the song can begin.  It is confusing to the dreamer who wants many times to escape, but the elders are always watching, and make it clear that there is no escape or exit from the Marriage camp.  The only recourse is to go through the 'process' of the 'execution', and 'face the music' .... the dreamer expects to be headless when it is all over with ... that the process will literally 'kill' him, but the dream makes it clear that the exact opposite is true ... the dreamer lives to talk about the experience and points to the scar on the neck, as living proof that it is possible to survive the 'ax' and stand.      But  more importantly, the ritual is connected to language and the ultimate 'song', symbolized by the neck .... where the scar is healed, but prominent for all to see.

We all have our own places in dark spirit of soul to transcend, before we can discover the true language and song within ... and must, in all aspects of our life, if we seek true spiritual reconciliation and renewal, be ready to 'face the executioner' and the very 'ax' (acts) that condemns and condemn us to the prisons and death camps  (represented by the forced marriage camp) where our souls, in part, reside.  Dreaming about marriage is a dream about commitment, and what it is needed to seek the union from disparate parts ... and bring music to life out of the discord and chaos we must leave behind to get there.   The executioner in this dream, is the darkest part of the dreamer, calling to the 'block', the very commitment that is required to break free and sing a whole new kind of music ... the ultimate outcome.  In the hand of the very one who  yields the ax, is also the song for another day ... implanted in memory in this dream as proof of birth and new beginnings ... because the song in hand, is a poem complete .... a song of Life renewed by Love ...

Second layer –  the personal  path :

On a personal level, the dream highlights the state of chaos in the dreamer's life at the time, and signals all that will be required ahead on the path to get where the dreamer's heart wants to go ... back to the music or, the creative and passionate side of life that sustains and fuels life, and lets it breathe ...

The process will be a painful one though .... or so, the dreamer believes, because the level of anxiety in the dream outweighs the actual result ... it is the Fear of 'decapitation' by staying in this 'marriage song camp' that keeps the dreamer wanting to find an alternate route and escape, but it is impossible to do so because the elders (read: seasoned souls and guardian guides) are always there to bring him back to the 'process'.    In reality, the dream signals how hard the process of spiritual reconciliation and renewal will be, how difficult it will be to remain caged and imprisoned in a symbolic 'death' camp .... but if the dreamer does this and goes the 'distance' .... the result is not only survival from the 'ax' of "Love", but in truth, a whole new song ... by 'facing the music' in the executioner's hand .... the dreamer lives to discover what it means .... what the true lyric and language in hand ... one day ... will be ....

Summary:

Dreams will exaggerate that which we have the hardest time believing, so we can be clear about the intent of the message.   And know with certainty that the dream is created especially for us and no other.  By Love.  Crafted in a very special valentine ... from the one who calls us all, "Beloved".

IV.  Messenger Mic Do symbols have negative meanings?

Although we often attribute negative meanings to common, or universal symbols - i.e., betrayal as the predominant theme when someone is 'shot in the back' ... the same sequence can also mean quite the opposite, as in the very 'shot in the back' the dreamer needed to heal the 'spine' ... stand tall and courageous again.

Thus, dream symbols and sequences are specific in the context of the dreamer's life circumstances, and often have in truth, both positive and negative meanings, because this is the way we experience reality.  Ultimately however, every dream is positive, because the goal is to  help the dreamer navigate through life experience.
