I. Dreampath Discussion:  Choices and Commitments .
Staying on the Path.

We often have dreams where we are asked or urged to make a commitment or choice. Usually, this is in context of a date or specific destination. The symbols vary, but a choice in a dream is always symbolic of a corresponding timeline in reality to commit to a certain path.

The request may be direct, as in a 'voiceover' dream, when a Guide breaks through conscious time to tell us we have to hurry up, that time is getting away from us, and we have to prepare, get ready for the journey. For instance, an authoritative voice that says, "Come Here!" loud enough to wake the dreamer. The call is a direct request for the dreamer to get back on the path and commit to the journey.

Choices in dreams are represented symbolically by conflicts, requests to go on journeys, take on new jobs, or even change our diets! Guides are often present, as the request to 'commit' or 'choose' is usually one that comes from one in authority. For instance, an Officer on a cruise ship who requires a fingerprint or signature before the dreamer is permitted to get to the next destination. Signing a contract in a dream is the clearest example of a commitment that the dreamer is expected to make to continue in the journey, because the path is certain and has already been decided. The contract is the reminder of this date with Destiny.

The commitments we are asked to make in dreams come in different symbols and at different times, but the purpose is always the same: to remind us that we have a purpose on a very certain path, and that we are expected to arrive at these very clear destinations on time!

II. Symbols and Scenes:  Clocks and Calendars.

A clock in a dream means the same thing it means to us in common reality: a way to monitor time. In reality, we wear wrist watches, or carry pocket pieces or stop watches, some set with alarms, so we will remember to get where we are going, and how much time we have left to prepare. Clocks and watches keep us on schedule, help us stay organized and oriented, so we know where we are in relation to the rest of the world.

Many use 'time' clocks religiously and are lost without this scheduled reminder or reality, while others do not like the restrictions of 'time' and work with internal clocks instead. Whatever the form of the clock in the dream, it has a common application in our lives - both as a measure of time and reminder of action - that we have a choice or commitment 'in Time'.

Calendars and Datebooks, which are also called Day Timers, serve the same purpose, but in a less urgent manner than an automated reminder of a time commitment. A
calendar in a dream or a date in a dream is usually more specific, because it is also a prophetic clue that is revealed to the dreamer. A specific day or date in a dream 'calendar clock' in other words, means a very specific event to pay attention to in reality. It is pointing out with certainty that we have a date with destiny and must be prepared.

More generally however, the use of calendars in dreams and other 'time scheduling' organizers is a reminder in reality that we have appointments to make in time. If we have a sense of being overwhelmed and not quite caught up with what we need to be doing in our lives, a dream will surface with 'time' symbols until we are on track again. The goal of the dream is to remind us of our spiritual paths, and keep us organized and prepared, so we can advance and arrive at our destinations.

III. Themes and Threads: Time Dream Interpretation.   Following the Thread (How to unravel the dream message).

The Dream ... The Slippery Slope Houseboat:

I am on a cruise --not sure if I am alone or with someone else. At some point, I slide wide off the side of the ship (that really looks more like a sloping house roof), and find it hard to get back up there. I am really scared and just hanging on. I did manage to pull myself up, but it was a really daunting task. Then others are in my space/room waiting for me to leave. I have to catch a plane or think it might be a helicopter. Now I am standing in a VIP waiting area with the ship captain who is trying to pull some strings to get me out of there. I don't know exactly when I'm supposed to leave, but a ship's officer asks me to sign something. I have my pen in hand, but the officer just says "OK" and rushes off with my fingerprint instead - some new kind of technology.

Background History:

The dreamer is an educator, and at the time of the dream was experiencing some confusion over time schedules. There was a sense of urgency in relation to this dream, but the dreamer didn't quite know what it meant 'in the scheme of things' Only that dream was very clear about a destination.

First layer - the personal path :

Hanging on in a dream usually represents a circumstance in reality that is overwhelming. Here, it appears to have to do with preparing for a journey, and the urgency to get packed and get off the ship in time. It appears also that others are also ready for the dreamer to move on in the  journey, represented by the language, "others are in my space/room waiting for me to leave".

The dreamer has to get  ready to "catch a plane" or perhaps "helicopter" to the next destination, although the method of the flight is still unclear.   Climbing overboard at first - or, "sliding wide off the side of the ship",  and then trying to climb back up the side proves to be a tricky and 'slippery' maneuver, because the side of the ship changes into the roof of a house boat.

The dream points to the difficulty in deciding how to best navigate this very ‘slippery slope’, but notice how the dreamer actually falls “wide of the side” which is quite an excellent symbol, because it means there is a  wide berth, or more room than  imagined to maneuver well, even under the ‘daunting’ circumstances of  being  ‘over board’. The stability in the ‘slide’ is further represented by the transformation of the ship into a  house boat’ , a structure that is far more stable in reality than a cruise ship, because of the foundation.

Putting together the symbols of the transforming cruise ‘ship’, ‘captain’, ‘ship’s first officer’, and ‘pulling strings'  (read: a lot of 'pull'), this is a very powerful  spiritual dream about a well-anchored and well-guided path, although the dream action suggests at first, that this is only a dream about about ‘hanging on’.

Second  layer - the spiritual path:

The location and action of the dream will clarify the spiritual context, as is true in this ocean cruise dream.  The entire focus is the activity on the “Captain’s Ship” and getting to the next destination. Officers in a dream are always spiritual guides, but when the Commander of the ship appears as the guide, it is an extraordinary symbol of spiritual direction and guidance on a very sacred journey.

There is a time schedule though, represented by the many ‘officers’ and others at the direction of the Captain who are ‘pulling strings’ to get the dreamer to the ‘plane’, or it could be a ‘helicopter’, which is even a stronger spiritual symbol, because it is a ‘direct flight up’, literally. A helicopter in a dream is also a symbol for a domestic flight, not an international destination, although the presence of the helicopter in this dream appears to point only to a direct path ‘up’, because it is always clear that the goal is to catch a ‘plane’.

Finally, the ‘ship’s officer asks for a signature, which is another strong spiritual symbol representing that a commitment is required to go on the journey. The dreamer is ready with ‘pen in hand’ (symbolizing spiritual readiness to make the commitment, to 'sign on' for the journey) but does not even have time  to ‘sign’, because the ‘officer’ says “OK” and ‘rushes off with a fingerprint instead. The commitment is already decided and ‘affirmed’ in the dream, symbolized by the “OK”, or the permission that is granted by the ‘fingerprint’, an ‘imprint’ unique to the dreamer’s identity.

Ultimately, a 'fingerprint signature' points to a path that is so specific in soul and spirit to the dreamer as to be almost a genetic code, or a path that will be known for the legacy of the dreamer's imprint.   A very powerful dream indeed ... but, it surfaces at this time of transition in the dreamer's life, because the message about both path and purpose needed to be clarified and affirmed.

In summary, The dream appears to be about hanging on through "daunting" circumstances, but the presence of the Ship’s captain and a time-driven destination make it very clear that a ‘high’ unique spiritual calling is involved ... at first it seems a bit overwhelming in its grasp, symbolized by the 'slippery slope houseboat', but there are guides at every point to make sure  the dreamer gets all the help needed to get through the adventure and to the new destination on time!

IV. Messenger Microphone Do Dreams Come True?

Every dream is true in the sense that it represents a part of us not seen that needs the help of a dream to illuminate. On a more general level, the dreams that we have predict the events and circumstances of our lives with regularity, and can be mapped and linked together over time to track this accuracy. Some ‘prophetic’ or “psi” dreams predict future events with startling clarity.

Prophetic dreams tend to be about the spiritual purpose or calling of the dreamer, to prepare for a future transformation or event. The knowledge revealed in a prophetic dream is provided for this purpose, although the dreamer does not always understand this message at the time of the dream.

V. News and Notes: What's Planned for the future.

This month, we introduce a new feature in Follow Your Heart - profiling the original music of artists, in hopes that others will be inspired to share their music and dreams. Healing Star Dream Path is seeking artists to be featured in upcoming profiles, so if you know someone who is interested in being sponsored, please contact editor@healingstardreampath.com. There are no fees involved, but the artist needs to be willing to offer the song as a free download. A photo, bio, and brief summary of the song is also necessary, so others can understand how the dream has transformed the artist, or connected the path for the restoration of a dream.

The first artist to be profiled is Harriet Reynolds , who shares Summer Rain.

We also have updated poetry and notes from the path, and will soon be on line with back issues of
Messenger Minutes, and Notes from Volumes I and II in the Dream Path Journey. Links to the earlier poems will also be available from Volume III – Dream Catcher Poetry with God. You’ll be able to click on the sidebar to get earlier editions of everything that has been chronicled to date, so please look for this addition in the next two weeks.

Please feel free to send Messenger Minutes to family and friends …   Next month, we'll look at  Map and Maze Symbols in a Mystery theme ...
