COURAGE & COMMITMENT [The Challenge] Spring is here again, leading soon into summer, and all of the festivities of the season come to mind - weddings, commencement ceremonies, and all of the happy memories that fill our hearts during the hard times - when resources are lean and wonder if we have what it takes to stay committed to the task and go the distance ... We cannot control the circumstances of our lives at times, only the way in which we respond to these experiences which test us so. It gets hard to focus, to stay true to who you are, keep plowing forward when torrents of rain block your view and way, but deep inside we all have what it takes to hang in there and propel us through inclement times and weather: Love. Faith. The belief and Hope that a rainbow exists to shine upon us for all of the hard effort. All of the grief. All of the tears and tangles that no one ever sees … well, so we think ... but God is always watching, always there, holding us when we fall, picking us up and carrying us the rest of the distance when the journey gets too difficult to bear on our own ... So many commitments, vows, expectations, when we launch onto a brand new path. And we take the 'charge' seriously, as a sacred soul connection - the one that will guide us for the rest of our lives, so we don't enter into these transitions and rites of passage without careful thought and consideration. Do you remember when you were just starting out? How hard it was to pay the rent, the light bill, put groceries on the table? We forget at times, how courageous the journey has been and how far we have progressed in life, until we look back and see the distance already traveled .... As we get older, it is easy to forget perhaps, that it used to be harder once, but somehow didn’t matter – all of those annoying circumstances – because the dream was bigger than all of it, and more than enough to fuel the Hope necessary to sustain and nourish a tender soul, so eager to believe and BE in this world … just BE. How soon we lose sight of that energy and angst though, as we grow into adulthood and responsibility and tending to other expectations and souls …. Somehow though, we need to recapture that early eagerness .. for life and Love and all things true in this world, because it is here … there … in the memory of what never existed before and only remains to be, that we discover and rediscover all of our dreams, ambitions, and know to the heart and soul of who we are … how to Be, Again, and just Breathe …. .
